Sick To Death is a brand new history of medicine attraction in Chester. A playground of plague with a smatter of splatter, and a chance to poke into our medical past.

The attraction is set within the redundant St Michaels Church located on the iconic Chester Rows. Big Heritage has renovated and revitalised the Church to give residents of, and visitors to Chester and insight to the gory history of medicine.

Sick to Death is a tactile and interactive experience, with plenty to read, touch, smell, try on and more. From the minute you step inside you will be greeted by the Spectres of Death and Asclepius, the ancient Greek god of medicine, these ghouls will introduce you to the museum and to the mysteries that await.

Take a stroll through diagnosis alley, filled with pestilence and plague. Or examine Colin in our Autopsy room. Can you work out what he died of? Perhaps you’d like to learn about all the Quack Doctors who deceived the world, the relationship between Magic and medicine, or even explore the disgusting realm of sexual health(parental discretion advised). Experience the past like never before at Sick to Death.

The original concept was tested on a small scale before it was rolled out to become a completely new family attraction in the centre of Chester. The team at Big Heritage researched, developed and physically made the attraction with all its staging, technology, learning zones and set design.

The museum also includes a shop and can accommodate groups as well as individual bookings. The attraction has a dwell time of approx. 45 mins and is attractively priced with children at only £3.50.
