LAUNCHING SEPTEMBER 5TH 2022 – MARCH 3RD 2023

This resident exhibition will be open during normal museum opening times and is included in the price of your entry ticket, pre-booking is not required.

On display will be the boat’s actual Enigma machine that was used onboard and includes one of the few surviving Enigma sheets announcing Grand Admiral Dönitz as Hitler’s Successor.

This exhibition offers a sneak peek at some of the secrets which sunk with the mysterious U-boat off the coast of Denmark in 1945.

Since U-534 came under the command of Big Heritage in November 2021, the team have been meticulously prowling through the oceans of archival material and researching some of the lost items and the secrets they hold.

Why was a toy dog found in the boat? Why were tropical uniforms found if it was never intended to leave Northern Europe?

The exhibition has been specially created by the Big Heritage team and will be added to over the months as new discoveries are made
